Twenty-one 340B covered entities to receive grant funding to help further their missions in the communities they serve
SAN ANTONIO, Texas ─ August 2, 2019 ─ CaptureRx, a healthcare technology company and leading 340B solution provider that puts people first, today announced that the first Capture Cares grants were awarded July 16, 2019, during the 340B Summer Coalition Conference held in our nation’s capital. Nearly $350,000 will be granted to twenty-one entities that participate in the 340B federal program.
Capture Cares is an organization created to help fund the personal or organizational missions of 340B safety net providers and their patients in need. Four types of grants were awarded: Community Mission Grants, Seed Grants, Marketing Video Grants and Medication Adherence Grants. The twenty-one grants range in amounts from $10,000 to $25,000 each.
“At CaptureRx, our mission is to enable your mission. In that spirit, we formed the Capture Cares Foundation to provide 340B covered entities additional resources to better serve their local populations,” said Chris Hotchkiss, CaptureRx CEO and co-founder. “Many of the safety net providers in our country rely on government programs like the 340B program just to keep the doors open. But they want to do so much more – Capture Cares grants give them an opportunity to make an even greater impact on their underserved and at-risk communities.”
Tulare County, one of the recipients of a Community Mission Grant, will be using the funding to purchase backpacks filled with items selected to address hygiene and safety concerns, such as sunscreen, toothbrushes, first aid and more. Chaz Felix, Homeless Initiatives Program Coordinator of Tulare County Health & Human Services Agency explains. “When compared to similar regions, Tulare County has the fourth-highest rate of unsheltered homeless in the country. Our homeless community struggles to travel to essential services because of a lack of safe storage space for personal belongings.
The Capture Cares grant addresses this gap by providing a way our homeless community can travel with their belongings, in addition to providing a wide range of essential items that promote health and wellbeing.”
“For 340B safety-net providers, a small amount of additional funding can go a long way in how they are able to care for their patients and community,” said Holly Russo, President & CEO, PatientCraft and Capture Cares Committee Member. “For example, the Seed Grants are designed to provide expert guidance and direction about how to successfully apply for larger grants that can range into the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Along the same lines, a Medication Adherence grant enables the entity to work with their populations to decrease unnecessary emergency room visits, improve health outcomes and decrease co-morbidities.”

The 340B Drug Discount Program is a US federal government program created in 1992 that requires drug manufacturers to provide outpatient drugs to eligible health care organizations and covered entities at significantly reduced prices.
